Lamar Odom “Not Out Of The Woods,” Kardashian Family “Heartbroken”
Lamar Odom still needs all the good vibes he can get. Despite recent improvements — his aunt said on Thursday, Oct. 22, that he’s begun to “flourish both mentally and physically” — a source tells Us Weekly that there are a lot of unknown variables in the former NBA star’s recovery.
“Lamar is not out of the woods,” the source shares. “I think it’s still really touch-and-go. Khloe [Kardashian] is not really responding to friends who’ve reached out; I think she’s just in a bubble with her family right now.”
Indeed, the insider says the whole Kardashian-Jenner clan has been affected by Odom’s scare. Several family members — including Kris,Kim, Kendall, Kylie, and Kourtney — visited the athlete, 35, in Las Vegas and asked for prayers from their millions of followers on social media.
“Khloe and her family have really proved how much they truly love Lamar,” the source tells Us. “They realize honestly that addiction is a disease, and they have been not only present but truly heartbroken over this whole tragic situation.”
Khloe, of course, is particularly torn up. As previously reported, theKeeping Up With the Kardashians star, 31, remained by Odom’s bedside the entire time he was hospitalized in Vegas, and accompanied him in the helicopter when he was transported to L.A. earlier this week. (She also skipped sister Kim’s surprise birthday party, hosted by Kanye West and attended by other family members on Wednesday evening.)
Earlier on Oct. 21, her lawyer, Laura Wasser, appeared before a judge to ask that Khloe’s divorce from Odom be dismissed.
The couple signed papers in July, but the case had yet to be finalized by the court.
“She loves him so much, and she takes their wedding vows — for better or worse, in sickness and health — extremely seriously,” the insider says of Khloe, noting that the pair would have “never” split if drugs weren’t a factor. “She was never truly present in a relationship the way she was with Lamar.”
Time will tell how things unfold with Odom’s recovery, but those close to the NBA Sixth Man of the Year winner hope he’s able to turn his life around. “This is a huge wakeup call for Lamar, for his friends and family,” the insider says. “Everyone is just really hoping for the best.”
