All the favorite characters die on Game of Thrones, but one of them is returning back.
Bran Stark, played by actor Isaac Hempstead Wright, is returning to the world of Westeros in Season 6 of the HBO series.
The actor spoke to the Irish Examiner, confirming his return after being absent for all of Season 5.
“I can’t say a lot but I am back this season, and it’s going to get particularly interesting with Bran,” Wright says. “He has some interesting visions.”
It’s exciting news for GoT fans who have long speculated about young Stark’s return. Bran basically spent Season 4 narrowly avoiding death and working to control his visions.
So why was he gone from Season 5? Showrunner David Benioff told Entertainment Weekly that Bran was “entering a training period which is going to take quite some time, much of which isn’t particularly cinematic.”
When we last saw Bran, he finally came face-to-face with the Three-Eyed Raven. Now that his story line has been accelerated, we’ll finally get to see what the training has done to his visions and skin changing skills.
But most importantly, this means Hodor will also be back.
Hey, David Benioff, while you’re at it: We want to see some other characters come back next season, too. (Cough, Jon Snow, cough.)
In his Irish Examiner interview, young Wright says he hasn’t watched the fifth season at all due to being “right in the middle of my exams.”
However, though, he has heard about Snow’s death. While actor Kit Harington says is character is gone for good, Wright wishes — like the rest of us — that this wasn’t so.
“I wish he would because I love Kit and because the character’s so cool,” Wright says. “Who knows? We start filming series six at the end of this month (July) so we’ll see.”
