The incident, according to Daily Trust, happened in the Byazhin Across area of Kubwa in Abuja, th Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where the man whose name was given as Benson, has been declared wanted by the police.
It was gathered that girl had succeeded in hiding the pregnancy from her parents for a while until they became suspicious and asked her who was responsible for the pregnancy after a test at the Kubwa General Hospital confirmed her state.
On confirming that she was truly pregnant, the parents insisted she must mention the person who had impregnated her but on the day she was supposed to take her parents to meet her 37-year-old lover, it was discovered that the teenager had attempted to kill herself.
After waiting for her to get ready, the parents of the secondary school student went into her room where they saw her lying unconscious and foaming from the mouth with a container of the poisonous substance by her side.
She was rushed to the hospital where doctors were able to flush the poisonous substance out of her system and is currently undergoing treatment.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Kubwa, Chief Superintendent Nurrudeen Sabo, confirmed the incident, saying the fleeing Benson would soon be apprehended and made to face the full wrath of the law.
“The suspect is on the run but efforts are being made to apprehend him. His name is Benson and he had been involved in a sexual relationship with the teenager who is currently in the hospital. He resides around Channel 8 in Kubwa and our men are at alert.”
