With his debut project Rumors out last Friday (Oct. 16), Kranium flexes his reggae muscles throughout the rhythm-oozing LP. In the video for the opener “Between Us,” Kranium rides into the night with his midnight honey in an intentionally melodramatic narrative — citing daytime television as an inspiration.
The dancehall artist shared his thoughts on the video, speaking with FADER, he said, “It really sets the mood for Rumors, which I often say plays out like a soap opera.”
Indulgently sappy as the video may be, “Between Us” is not the booty call it may sound like. Slow-moving in a scenic and surprisingly sweet way, the video follows the couple in their nighttime rendezvous through Paris, as even the Eiffel Tower makes an appearance.
While “Between Us” offers one of the release’s less dancey tunes, it kicks the LP off on a laid back note that speaks to Kranium’s artistic attitude.
