Edo 2016: First Female APC Guber Aspirant Emerges

The Women wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state has vowed to slug it out with the men folk in the forthcoming governorship primaries of the party as the first female aspirant of the party, Mrs Tina Agbarha joins the guber race.

The women who stormed the APC secretariat in their hundreds to present Mrs Agbarha as the candidate of the women urged their male counterparts to support their candidate as they have supported them in the past.

The APC woman leader in the state, who presented the female aspirant to the state chairman of the party, Anslem Ojezua, declared that Edo women had resolved to produce the first female governor in the country, asserting that the time of playing a second fiddle is over.

According to Mrs Amadesun, “ we are united in producing the first female governor in Nigeria after we failed in Taraba state. We are seeking the support of our men because we have always supported you.

The people you see here today are not just APC women, we have women across political lines, including women from PDP because their party too couldn’t field any female aspirant. The market women, even the men are also behind us in this struggle”.

Addressing the crowd, Mrs Agbarha said Edo women have decided to speak with one voice, “and I am ready to lead this struggle.

Our Comrade governor has performed and I want to build on his achievements so that Edo state will not go back to the dark days.

I am appealing to APC delegates to look at the direction of the women, money is not everything but by the special grace of God, the men will provide the money to support us in this historic battle for the APC governorship ticket”.

In his response, Ojezua hailed the boldness of the women admonishing them to work harder as the primaries of the party will be free and fair.
